Robert F. Wieland
Mr. Robert F. Wieland, age 55, of Newark, DE, passed away suddenly
of lymphoma on Sunday,
November 2, 2003, at Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Wieland was a native of Warrington, PA, and had lived in Newark for
about 37 years. He graduated
from Central Bucks High School in 1966 and received a bachelor's degree
in electrical engineering from
the University of Delaware in 1974. He was employed by the University
of Delaware for 25 years, most
recently as a senior research technician in Materials Science. He
also worked in Network and Systems
Services, the Cat Center, and the Institute for Energy Conversion.
Mr. Wieland served in the US Army Signal Corps for 3 years, including 1
year in Vietnam. He was a
member of the New Ark United Church of Christ, the Delaware
Astronomical Society, and the Delaware
Council of the Blind & Visually Impaired. He served on the
boards of Brandywine Friends of Old Time
Music and Newark Natural Foods.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Whiteside Wieland; his father
Robert D. Wieland of Naples, FL; his
brothers, Richard A. Wieland of New Britain, PA; and Walter D. Wieland
of Chalfont, PA; 1 niece and
3 nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary C. Wieland.
The funeral service will be at New Ark United Church of Christ, 300
East Main St., Newark, DE, on
Saturday, November 8, 2003, at 10 AM. Interment will follow in
Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N.
DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Friends may call at the Spicer-Mullikin
Funeral Home, 121 West
Park Place, Newark, DE, on Friday, November 7, 2003, from 6 to 8 PM.
