Mary Arden Collins  updated 5/12/2008

One of our cousins is an accomplished singer songwriter of whom we are all very proud.

Adapted from her web site:

""Named after Shakespeare's mother and the artisan town of Arden*, Delaware in which she was born,
Mary Arden began writing songs soon after graduating from St. Joseph's University with a BA in Fine
and Performing Arts and English. Her performing skills were honed on the theatrical stages of Wilmington
and Philadelphia. Soon after, she created Arden Entertainment, and later Arden Music to devote herself
to music full-time. As she said in her commencement speech to the first graduating class at Cab Calloway
School
of the Arts": "I am living my dream!"

Mary Arden's love of music took her from the small town to the big city. Now residing in L.A., she has
been busy writing and recording songs for movies and television. Mary's music
has been heard in the TV
series "Joan of Arcadia" and the film "The Thing About My Folks" and most recently for the PBS program
"Carrier". Mary Arden
combines the honesty of John Mayer, the style of Sheryl Crow and the passion of
Ani DiFranco!
""

Mary Arden Collins is a fourth generation decendent of Martin Munroe and Bridgett McCabe both who were
 born and married
in Ireland before emigrating from there to Wilmington Delaware around 1879.

* My own connection with Arden began with visits to my Aunt Katie and Uncle Emil's house there.
This was on the German side of my father's family. Later the Irish side of my father's family moved
into the old house of my German great Aunt and Uncle. I think that this is the same house in which
Mary Arden grew up. I am not positive, though. I hope to someday meet and hear her in person.
My favorite song of hers thus far is "What Would Ya Say".
